Claude puts the chart beside the chat

Claude may not pour a large answer into the chat. It opens it in a side panel. Anthropic calls that an artifact. A document, a diagram, a board, or a small interactive tool can stand inside the panel.

This is not ChatGPT's Intelligent UI. There the chart is inside the answer. Here the chart is beside the text. You can edit the panel and come back later. Who can see it depends on the plan.

An artifact made in a chat before 16 September 2026 counts as old. Those still open. You cannot make a new one of that old kind. On the site and in the desktop app a new artifact is still made.

A Claude Code session can also publish a live page. That is not a chat bubble. It is a page with an address.

The tool in the panel is wrong too. Check a total and a date yourself.

• Say "make this a chart in the side panel". A bare "write" can return text.
• If a panel in an old chat opens, do not count it as the new kind.
• The share button is not the same on every plan. If it does not open, the plan does not allow it.
• A Claude Code page does not replace the chat. The two addresses are separate.
• A ChatGPT or Google sign-in does not open Claude.
• Check a total in the panel again with a calculator.
