How to add page numbers to a PDF

Page numbers make essays, applications and reports easier to read.

To number a finished PDF, open the Add page numbers tool. You choose the PDF, set a few options and download the numbered file.

You can leave the cover unnumbered and pick the first number yourself. The file does not go to a server; it all runs in the browser.

  • Open nibrascode.com/en/pdf/page-numbers and choose the PDF.
  • «Start on page»: set 2 to keep the cover unnumbered.
  • «First number»: the number on the first numbered page, for example 1 or 5.
  • «Position»: top or bottom, left, center or right.
  • Pick a format: 1, 1 / N or - 1 -. Change font size and distance from the edge if needed.
  • Press Start and download the numbered PDF.

A password-protected PDF must be unlocked first. Numbers are drawn on top of the page, so if text sits there, pick another position. If you are writing a new document, the Simple PDF editor also has a page-numbers box.
