New: Halal search mode — images on search results and web pages are checked by an on-device model (Yahoo open_nsfw, BSD; TensorFlow Lite, Apache-2.0; ML Kit face detection — people are blurred too) and anything not judged safe is blurred; images are never uploaded, and tap-to-reveal can be protected by the parent PIN. Prayer notifications — 10 minutes before and when each prayer time begins (per prayer), in the chosen city’s time zone, calculated on the device. Family profiles — “Adult” and “Child” with separate history, bookmarks, tabs and cookies; the Child profile only opens parent-approved sites (nibrascode.com and Quran sites by default) and switching back needs the PIN. HTML playground — HTML/CSS/JS editor with live preview, console, templates, saved snippets and .html export. All of this data stays on the device.

New: a Qibla direction screen (compass with magnetic-declination correction and distance to the Kaaba; without a compass sensor it shows the bearing only), city names in 5 languages (e.g. Bakı, Gəncə, Məkkə; GeoNames alternateNames, CC BY 4.0) with accent-insensitive search. Parental controls: a 4–6 digit PIN (hashed with PBKDF2 and a salt, stored only on the device) required to change settings, clear history or run the emergency wipe, plus extra blocked sites and a daily time limit. A temporary lock applies after 5 wrong attempts. If the PIN is forgotten, the only recovery is resetting the app data; no external service is used. Location and sensor data for the Qibla never leave the device.
Prayer times use the Umm al-Qura (Makkah) method by default; the method can be changed in Settings. City selection: country first, then city (offline, GeoNames, CC BY 4.0); times are shown in that city’s time zone.
Prayer times: prayer times on the home page are calculated on your device (adhan library, no internet needed). If you grant permission, only approximate (coarse) location is used; coordinates are rounded to about 1 km, stored only on the device and never sent anywhere. You can choose a city instead of sharing location.
Backups: exporting/importing bookmarks and history as JSON only writes to or reads from the file you pick; nothing is uploaded.
Family safety: adult (18+) sites are always blocked and SafeSearch is enforced on Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and YouTube. The check runs entirely on your device using a bundled list (StevenBlack/hosts, MIT); no browsing data is sent anywhere. It also applies in private tabs.
1. Summary
Nibras Nova is a web browser made by Nibras Code. It has no user accounts, no ads, no analytics and no crash-reporting SDKs. Everything you create in the app (history, bookmarks, tabs, settings, notes, vault items) is stored only on your device. We, the developer, do not receive or store any of your data.
2. Data stored on your device
• Browsing history, bookmarks, open tabs, quick links, downloads list, RSS feeds, page monitors, notes/highlights, user scripts and settings (in a local database and app preferences). • Private-tab browsing is not written to history. • Vault items and backups you create are encrypted (AES-256) with a key or password that stays on your device. • Android cloud backup of app data is disabled; data leaves the device only if you export it yourself (bookmark HTML export, encrypted backup file, Wi-Fi transfer). • You can delete everything at any time: clear history, use “Panic wipe”, or uninstall the app.
3. Network connections
• Websites you open: your device connects to them directly, as in any browser. Those sites have their own privacy policies. • Search: what you type in the address bar is sent to the search engine you selected (DuckDuckGo by default; Google, Bing, Brave, Startpage or a custom one). • Secure DNS (optional): if you turn on DNS-over-HTTPS, domain lookups go to the provider you choose (Cloudflare, Quad9 or AdGuard). A proxy, if you set one, receives your traffic. • Page translation: “Translate page” opens the page through Google Translate (translate.google.com), which receives the page address. Text translation uses Google ML Kit on the device; language models are downloaded from Google once, and the text itself is translated on the device. • Safe Browsing: Android System WebView may check addresses against Google Safe Browsing to warn about dangerous sites. • RSS feeds and page monitors fetch only the addresses you add. • Wi-Fi transfer runs a temporary server on your local network only while the transfer screen is open; nothing goes through the internet.
4. Permissions
• Internet / network state: to load web pages. • Camera: only to scan QR codes and when a website asks for the camera (you are asked first). • Microphone: only when a website asks for it, e.g. a video call (you are asked first). • Location: only when a website asks for your location (you are asked first). The app itself does not collect location. • Notifications: to show download progress and page-monitor alerts. • Biometrics: to unlock the private vault and private tabs; your fingerprint/face data never leaves Android's secure hardware. • Storage (older Android only): to save downloaded files. • Wi-Fi state: to show your local address for Wi-Fi transfer.
5. Sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent or share personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.
6. Children
The app is a general-purpose browser and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
