App not compatible with your device

If the screen says This app isn't compatible with your device or App not compatible with your device, the package was not built for this phone.

HyperOS on a Xiaomi and One UI on a Samsung do not change the rule. What counts is the Android number under that name, and whether the processor is 32 or 64 bit.

• The Android number is under Settings, About phone. On Samsung that is Software information. On Xiaomi it is About phone, or My device.
• If the package wants Android 8, a phone on Android 7 will not install it. The skin's name does not make an old number new.
• A 32-bit phone will not open a 64-bit package. The other way happens too. If the file name carries arm64 or armeabi, that names the processor.
• A package built for a tablet is not treated as compatible on some phones. A phone needs its own package.
• If Play says your device is not compatible, a side-loaded APK stops for the same reason. Looking for another file does not change the version.
