Not enough storage

If the screen says Not enough storage space or Insufficient storage, the APK will not install even when the file is small. The free space has to be larger than the file.

The number in a cleaner app is not the space the installer sees. On Samsung and Xiaomi, check the space from Settings.

• Samsung: Settings, Device care, Storage. Clear the cache and remove spare video and old APK files.
• Xiaomi: Settings, Storage. The cleaner's «can be freed» number does not count for installation. Free space has to remain on internal storage.
• If the file is on a memory card, move it to internal storage and install it from there. Installing from the card often stops.
• Keep a few hundred megabytes free for a 100 megabyte app. Installation opens the file and keeps a temporary copy.
• "Storage full" is sometimes wrong. Turn the phone off and on, then look at the number in Settings again.
