If the command is not recognized

Version to install

.NET 10 SDK. Download the SDK, not only the runtime.

Checked: 20 October 2026.

Steps on Windows

  1. Open https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet/10.0.
  2. From the SDK column, download the Windows x64 installer. Skip the Runtime column.
  3. Open the file and install it.
  4. Close the terminal and open a new one.
  5. Type dotnet --version.

Check

The answer should start with 10.

dotnet --version

Difference from the old version

.NET 8 support ends in November 2026. A new setup is the .NET 10 SDK.
