Python 3.14. Take the official Windows installer. 3.15 came out this month; if a library is missing, stay on 3.14.

Steps on Windows

  1. Open https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/.
  2. Download the Windows installer (64-bit) for Python 3.14.
  3. Open it. Tick Add python.exe to PATH at the bottom, then Install Now.
  4. When it finishes, close the old terminal and open a new one.
  5. Type python --version.

Check

The answer should start with Python 3.14.

python --version

Difference from the old version

Python 3.12 now gets only security fixes. For a new setup, take 3.14.
